Tattoo, the third

Sister and I took our second annual M5/Tattoo trip to DFW last weekend. After driving in traffic hell for nearly two hours (20 miles), we finally made it to Fair Park for the show. We completely missed Matt Nathanson and about 30 minutes of Train's set. Oh well. We were there to see Maroon 5, anyway and we had to park in the boonies, which actually gave us a super easy exit. Excellent seats, excellent show. Have I shared with you my love for Maroon 5? It is immense. This show makes #6. They're amazing.

Oh Adam. How I love you.

Sister's phone takes pretty decent photos.
Saturday we hit Cat Tattoo and spent most of the day getting new ink. Well, mine took a whole 30 minutes, but sister's took nearly 3 hours. I new I wanted a wrist tattoo, but until a few weeks ago I had yet to decide what. Words of some sort...a phrase? And then it hit me. Harmony. I'm all about harmony - in music, in life. It's something to strive for. A little font searching and whammo - I found it (Scriptina). It all came together in about an hour. I love when that happens.

Sister's Tattoo - she totally stole my thunder, her tat is so beautiful!

It's almost all healed up already. I love it. If you live in the DFW area, or Texas at all (or Oklahoma for that matter) - consider Cat Tattoo in Addison. All three of my tats were done at Cat.Professional, clean, talented artists, good prices. You won't be disappointed.

Yarnaholics

My Mom taught me how to crochet in high school, but it wasn't until recently that I started experimenting with new projects. Most of what I'd done in the past were your standard beanies and scarves. I even attempted a full-size blanket (that ended up being a perfect take-a-nap-on-the-couch blanket).

My first step out of the box were a few little amigurumi animals at the beginning of 2011 - a bird, a dog, and then an elephant - that was the most complicated pattern I'd attempted thus far. After those were tackled and accomplished, I decided that I wanted to do a minion from Despicable Me. I hadn't even seen the movie yet, but the commercials and previews made me giggle, I just HAD to have one for myself. I made one, but then sold it to a family member. I then had so many requests on FB about them, that I decided they needed to go on etsy.

After the rush on those kind of died out, I started experimenting with other ideas - mostly geared toward babies. Pixie hats and animal hats, as well as accessories for adults. An opportunity came up, in the form of a craft show for a good cause, and I roped in my sister and Mom and we are now Yarnaholics!

We have a Facebook page and an Etsy page and business is picking up. And last Friday, the new 4pm show on our local CBS station, KTAB 4U, did a segment on us (you can find that here). I am very excited about what the next few months could bring. Thanks for your support, and your orders! Pass our FB page along to your friends. With Christmas coming up, we have LOTS of fun, unique gifts for the little ones all the way to adults. More items are added every week - and we'll have some fun stuff for the holidays too! If there's a custom item that you'd like, please shoot us an email or let us know on FB. We LOVE custom orders!

Here I Am!

Whoa. St. Pat's was the last post.

My etsy store has been keeping my hands busy for the last few months, which has definitely been a blessing, but at the same time kind of turns them into this:

this is not me - flickr

Most of my sales have been minions, which I thoroughly enjoy making (for the most part), but I've had a bit of a lull lately, so I get to work my creative brain a bit and come up with new things. Yay!

this is me! minions - oh how i wish they were real

One of my coworkers kindly passed along some photos of his adorable little boy in his new adorable little hat. I have several more in the making (that will soon be mailed out to friends and family with adorable little ones) so stay tuned for more cute photos and new listings on etsy.

St. Pat's Cupcakes

Found the recipe for Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes via the Brown-Eyed Baker (just one of many recipes I aim to try from her blog) on the morning of St. Pat's and rushed to the grocery store on my lunch break and managed to bake one pan of the cupcakes before going back to work.

Finished the frosting after work (in my old school, estate sale find stand mixer) and they were the perfect way to start my St. Patty's celebration. Yum, yum, YUM.

Word of warning, though, that frosting is quite stout. Beware eating them on an empty stomach! Haha!

Crochet Critters

It all started with a pattern I found on Ravelry - if you are a crocheter or knitter, you MUST check out that site, it is FANtastic - and I was hooked. (hahaha, hooked! get it!?)

I made a few more patterns from the Lion Brand arsenal of free stuff, and then I started to make my own little critters. And now, well, now I just can't stop! Most of my creations come from requests that friends and family have made. Take a look!

Please check out me out on etsy, and if there's a critter that you're dying to have, please ask!!

Wow.

I've been MIA from the blogosphere for MONTHS. Yikes.

To start things off - I've entered this photo into the iheartfaces weekly photo contest. This week's theme is Sun Flare.

Stay tuned for a post this afternoon. I've been crocheting my little hands off lately and boy do I have some stuff to show you!!
