Nashville Trainwreck
I seriously don't know why I continue to watch Nashville Star. For the judges? Perhaps. Or maybe it's because there are a few Texans on the show. Or maybe because I've been watching it, there's nothing else on TV on Monday nights, and it's kind of like an accident you just can't help gawking at. Yep. That's probably it.
A rundown of the contestants that are still on the show (from best to worst):
- Melissa. This girl is awesome! She's got a commanding voice and great stage presence, she's also picked some great songs. And she's curvy. You go girl!
- Gabe. He's sort of a Hispanic George Strait, and those dimples!
- Coffey. Interesting and different. John Mayer meets Aaron Neville. I like.
- Shawn. If this girl would stop trying so hard, she'd probably be a lot better. She's got spunk though.
- Ashlee. She's not herself. She's trying to sound like half a dozen other artists. She's next to go. I hope.
And now for the eliminated:
- Tommy. Man I was sad to see him go. He was original and normal. A navy guy. Come on America!
- Pearl Heart. Good harmonies between the sisters, lacked the stage presence, but could be awesome with good training.
- Charley. First one eliminated. He was good! What the heck?
- Laura & Sophie. WAY too young. Grow up a little, get some life experience. And vocal training.
- Alyson. Beauty queen. Great voice, but way too pageanty.
- Travis. Should be on some modeling show, not Nashville Star. Way too pretty.
- Third town. The guy in the middle was creepy. The other two were great. Get rid of creepy guy.
I like the judges, though some of their comments are just too nice. John Rich really hit the nail on the head last night though. He said he was wary of the show because NBC was ultimately going to pick the final contestants. He admitted they'd chosen well on a few of them, but he really questioned some of their choices. YESSSS! I was beginning to think that everyone on that show had gone insane. At least one person is being honest, but I bet he's mysteriously 'too busy' to come back next season.
Oh, one more thing. Did anybody catch 'Can You Duet' on CMT a few months back? 100 times better than Nashville Star. Joey & Rory. Brownell & Richie. And Caitlyn & Will--the winners, they are freaking amazing.

Florida!
We rolled into my driveway just before noon on Monday. It was the end of a verrrrry long ride back from Florida. We left at 10am on Sunday, dropped Rab off in Houston and made it to Dallas at 1:30 am to stop for the night. It made yesterday's final leg amazingly short, but Sunday was quite brutal. You know, if I never had to go through Louisiana again in my life, I'd be a pretty happy woman. Why anyone would choose to live there is beyond me. The photo to your left is what we call our 'Lousy-ana face.' Yeah.
Despite the long hours in the car, we had an amazing time in Florida. It was SO good to have everybody together again. I am blessed with some fantastic friends. We didn't skip a beat, it was like we'd seen each other the day before—no awkwardness or lack of things to talk about. Man I miss those guys! We definitely need to do that more often. But this time we fly. You really can't beat a Florida vacay for under $200 though.
Here are a few shots…
K-Mack, me, Audra, and Bonny at Navarre Beach. Crowded but fun!
The outside deck at Harbor Docks. The swordfish was amazing!

Vacation
I'm a planner, especially when it comes to traveling. I like to print off directions and keep them in a little travel folder. I like to have my hotel booked in advance, and I keep the confirmation number in the travel folder. I don't like to stop a lot on the road. And I really don't like it when people try to take over too much.
I'm excited, don't get me wrong, but typically the day before a trip I start not wanting to go. No matter how fun I know it's going to be. I don't like leaving the normalcy of life. And I really hate leaving Roxie. It makes me sad. I wish she could come too, she's never seen the beach! Sigh.
I want to leave tomorrow by 6pm. But I'm not driving, so I'm kind of at the mercy of the driver, which I hate. But I can handle it. Right?
I've started making my list of to-dos and to-packs. I've got a lot to take care of it seems, but I should have enough time to take care of everything, if I budget my time well.
Florida, here we come!!
